Kindergarten Invades HEB
Last week, the kindergarten students were asked the question
“What is a healthy meal?” They spent the
week learning about nutrition and what food groups are needed to help you grow
strong. For part of their research, they
were able to visit a local H-E-B grocery store.
At the store, they took a tour of the different departments
to find foods in each important food group. They were able to sample some
healthy foods as well.
The
students learned other healthy habits such as dental care and hygiene. One
group got to see a 17 pound lobster!
At the end of the week, the students applied their knowledge
to create a picture of a healthy meal using construction paper. They then
reported their findings to their class.
This project based learning experience was funded through the Katy ISD
Education Foundation Inspiring Imagination Grant the Kindergarten Team was
awarded in May of 2014.
